HOLLYWOOD, Calif. - Dec. 14, 2017 - PRLog -- The Ceremony was presided over by  Honorary Chair Ed Asner, Winner of 8 Prime Time Emmys, 3 Golden Globes and former President of the Screen Actors Guild of America with Jury Prizes presented by Festival CEO, Brad Parks.  Legends of Baja was Directed by Jack Cooperman of Baja Sun Films and won Most Innovative Documentary Short as well as 2017 Jury Honors Class.

The Executive Producer was Igor Kay and Co-Producer was Jane S. Linter. The evening at Paramount also included a special celebration screening of In Vino staring Ed Asner and Sean Young - the Festival's winner for Best Comedy Feature directed by Leonardo Foti. This win follows less than a week after their return from Milan, Italy where Legends of Baja  just received the Crystal Award at the prestigious FICTS Sports Movies & TV Festival, Milan. The  Milano International FICTS Fest  is the grand finale of the World FICTS Challenge, a worldwide championship of cinema, television, and sport culture, organized in sixteen festivals.  The event, as well as its Championship, is organized  by FICTS and chaired by  Franco Ascani a member of the Olympics Heritage Commission.

Hollywood Film Festival's  much-expanded international filmmaking competition was first announced by the Festival's CEO, Brad Parks, at Variety's "Welcome to Cannes Party" during the 2017 Cannes Film Festival in May of 2017. The inaugural Global Grand Jury Competition opening event was then held in China in June of 2017 during the Shanghai International Film Festival.  With a new global focus, they are celebrating the inspiring, impactful, and innovative artists from over 30 nations that represent their 2017 Jury Class Film Submissions, and at the Hollywood Film Festival  announced  their 2017 Jury Class, Jury Prize Winners, and Exceptional Emerging Artist Honors.

The film Legends of Baja debuts exciting never-before-seen archival 16mm film footage shot in 1969 of Steve McQueen and James Garner who entered into an off-road race in Baja, California, Mexico, which  has come to be known as the longest, toughest and most dangerous race in the world - The Mexican 1000. More than 200 people entered the race, but less than half would finish & some would pay with their lives. This recently unearthed 16mm film shows a glimpse of a bygone era and features not only movie stars, but notable racers of the time like Parnelli Jones, Bruce Meyers & Rod Hall. Today 3 generations of racers later, with dust in their veins, come back to the Baja year after year to test their skills and machines on the punishing desert course.  Baja Sun's earlier win this year was for Best Documentary at the Los Angeles Movie Awards in October, "We are now going all out to raise the funds to finish a 6 x 1 hour documentary series" says Executive Producer Igor Kay  "we have to transfer the remaining 87 rolls of film to digital format in order to complete the full series.
