Lee Canyon Opens for Summer Season on Friday, May 25, 2018

LAS VEGAS - May 21, 2018 - PRLog -- Lee Canyon (http://www.leecanyonlv.com/site) opens for the summer season on Friday, May 25, 2018.Open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday through Sunday, Lee Canyon's summer offerings include scenic chairlift rides, disc golf, hiking, a mini skateboard ramp, Onewheel tours, archery, and patio games. Guest can also enjoy food and beverages from the Bristlecone Bar & Grill on the patio.

Through September 30, groups of children ages six to 14 can take part in Youth Adventure Days, a mountain summer day camp. The day of activities will include hiking, archery, nine-hole disc golf, a crafting session, and activities to promote wildlife and outdoor stewardship in a fun and educational environment; lunch is included. A group with a minimum of 10 participants are required for each Youth Adventure Day reservation.

The Sherwood chairlift takes visitors above the trees to an elevation of 9,310 feet for magnificent bird's eye views of the canyon. Chairlift tickets, $12 for adults and $6 for children up to age 12, can be purchased at the base lodge. Winter season pass holders get one complimentary chairlift ride per day but must show their season pass.

Lee Canyon's 18-hole disc golf course, rated No. 1 in the Las Vegas Valley, starts players at 9,300 feet in elevation before leading them on a hike down the mountain terrain to each hole. Players can easily get to the top of the course by riding the chairlift or going for a moderate 40-minute hike. Disc golf season passes, $50 per pass, and rental packages, $19 for adults and $14 for children 12 and under, are available at the base lodge. The course is best suited for intermediate to advanced players, but beginners are welcome to build their skills; sturdy footwear is recommended.

In 2017, the resort added archery and Onewheel tours to the list of summer offerings. Onewheel tours allow guests ages 13 and up the opportunity to cruise down the mountain led by a guide. Each 30-minute session begins with an instruction demonstration before groups begin their adventure. Reservations are $19 per person and are available on a first-come-first-serve basis. At the archery lanes, guests ages nine and up can test their aim using recreational bows and arrows. Archery sessions, priced at $19 per person, are 30 minutes long during which an instructor will always be present. Outside archery equipment is not allowed at the resort.

Temperatures at Lee Canyon are usually 20 degrees cooler than in the Las Vegas Valley, making the resort a favorite escape for locals and visitors of all activity levels. Many fitness enthusiasts regularly visit the resort to run, hike or mountain bike on the nearby Bristlecone Trail.

"Lee Canyon is the perfect weekend outdoor escape once the Valley temperatures hit the triple digits," said Jim Seely, Lee Canyon's marketing director. "Our cool mountain temps allow locals and visitors to spend an adventurous or leisurely day outdoors during the summer months."

The resort is dog-friendly, giving pets a reprieve from the city's hot pavement; dogs must be kept on a leash.

During the summer months, the resort also can be booked for weddings, corporate picnics, reunions, and other group events of various sizes.
