The project is the brainchild of Nepalese businessman Ravi Chandra, who has been in the hospitality and travel industry for 40 years, and who owns the successful local adventure travel company, AmaDablam Adventures. Comments Ravi: "The idea was conceived 12 years ago with the aim of creating a hotel from scratch utilising the skills of artisans from across the country. We wanted to reflect Nepal's traditional architecture and help promote and preserve this unique pagoda-style architecture. "It has taken eight years to build - with many ups and downs along the way - and includes high quality, hand-made wooden carvings and the making of traditional Nepalese dachhi bricks and jhigatic (oil-immersed clay tiles). "The painstaking construction allows guests to enjoy an authentic, luxurious experience in this peaceful mountain town, situated below the mighty 'fishtail' mountain and surrounded by some of the most spectacular scenery on the planet." Other hotel facilities include a choice of restaurants and bars, swimming pool (including a pool bar), conference rooms and a health club and spa.
