David L. Hayes Expands Snell & Wilmer's Life Sciences and Medical Technology Group

 
ORANGE COUNTY, Calif. - Dec. 12, 2017 - PRLog -- Snell & Wilmer is pleased to announce that David L. Hayes has joined the firm as Of Counsel in the life sciences and medical technology group.

Prior to joining Snell & Wilmer, Hayes served as the general counsel for two medical device companies, NeuroSigma, Inc., a neuromodulation med device company, and NSVascular, Inc., a medical device company developing thin-film nitinol stents for neurovascular brain aneurysms. While there, Hayes was responsible for counseling the company in key strategic areas, including corporate governance, technology license agreements, strategic collaborations, joint ventures, manufacturing agreements and commercialization agreements and led the company's negotiations on complex licensing, strategic partnering transactions and financings, including the preparation for an IPO.

"David is an exceptional corporate attorney with extensive and broad experience in the life sciences industry," said Ketan Vakil, administrative partner of Snell & Wilmer's Orange County office. David's industry experience covers a wide variety of areas including life science, pharma, biotech, medical devices, computer hardware, semiconductors, software and information technology and outsourcing, among others. His practice included domestic and international transactions that focus on the entire intellectual property life cycle including, acquisition of intellectual property assets, research and development, sale and distribution of intellectual property assets, patent, copyright and trademark licensing, outsourcing and facilities management, strategic alliances, biotechnology research and development, computer services and software and hardware development.

Hayes also advised clients on co-promotion, distribution, technology-related professional services, semiconductor supply, system integration, software and hardware maintenance and disaster recovery. His work includes mergers and acquisitions involving life science and technology targets. He assists clients with intellectual property protection programs and copyright and trademark registration prosecution.

Prior to practicing law, Hayes was a computer programmer and software engineer for a major utility company where his responsibilities included research into various state-of-the-art technologies. This background is extremely valuable in connection with technology related transactions.

Hayes earned his B.A. cum laude from the University of California, Irvine and his J.D. cum laude from Cornell Law School.
