Murder In The Woods Starring Jose Julian and Danny Trejo Kills It At PDX Extreme Festival

PORTLAND, Ore. - Dec. 6, 2017 - PRLog -- Playing to another jam packed house, this time  at the historic Laurelhurst Theater  in Portland, Oregon, Luis Iga's highly anticipated horror/slasher had the audience gasping at times and literally screaming at others. Coming off back-to-back sell-outs at the famous Chinese Theater in Hollywood, Murder in the Woods, written by Yelyna De Leon, sold out for the prestigious Guadalajara International Film Festival in LA (FICG in LA) as well as the equally prestigious LA SKINS fest where the film took home the highly coveted Achievement in Film Award, which is given to the best feature film in the festival.

Taking place over three days, PDXtreme Fest showcases horror, crime, dark comedy, and everything in-between. The film is getting rave reviews from fans and critics, and the horror community has taken notice as well. "There's not just murder in these woods - there are also twists, turns and thrills aplenty!" said PDXtreme Fest founder and director Jeremy Jantz. Mike Thomas of Matchflick says, "It is a fun film, and one you'll talk about at the water cooler at work. It is a popcorn movie, so you can bet your friends who attend the film whodunit," and Michael Haberfelner from Re: Search My Trash in Austria agrees calling Murder in the Woods. "The film [that] delivers on its promise in heaps, culminating in a very tight finale with all the suspense and shocks in their right places and plenty of gore as well. Very cool genre entertainment!"

The film, which starts off as typical kids-in-the-woods fare, and incorporates a couple of genius twists, features an All-Latino cast. Writer/Producer De Leon says, "When I wrote Murder in the Woods, my vision was for it to be a fun, entertaining, universal slasher film that just happened to star an all Latino, diverse cast in non-stereotypical and lead roles. After seeing the audiences' positive reaction in Portland, I know that my vision has come to fruition.  Audiences loved the film and I'm very excited about showing the film all over the world, as I am certain that audiences will enjoy the fun experience of seeing Murder in the Woods on the big screen."

Murder in the Woods, continues to make its festival run. Up next:  Macabre Faire Film Festival in Long Island January 12-14, 2018. The ensemble lead cast includes actors Jose Julian (A Better Life, Shameless), Jeanette Samano (ISA, Female Fight Squad), Chelsea Rendon (McFarland, USA), Catherine Toribio (Jane the Virgin), Jordan Diambrini (The Outfield) and Kade Wise (Lucifer). It also features Danny Trejo (Machete), Soledad St. Hilaire (Beatriz at Dinner), Kurt Caceres (Dexter) and Rolando Molina (American Dad!).
