Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill To Host Annual Holiday Events

Illuminated Evenings, Afternoon Teas, Open Houses at The Shops and more

HARRODSBURG, Ky. - Nov. 29, 2017 - PRLog -- Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill will host its annual holiday events throughout the month of December. Donations for the Giving Tree will be given to the Mercer County Family Resource Center. This year, guests are encouraged to bring new hats, gloves and jackets (children's sizes 4-8), laundry detergent, fabric softener and dryer sheets to the Welcome Center by Dec. 31 to benefit the local community.

Illuminated Evenings feature holiday music, roaring fires and twinkling lights. Each Friday and Saturday night from. Dec. 1-Dec. 23, different community music performers, hands-on crafts in the Elf Shop, rides aboard the Jingle Bell Shuttle, Christmas caroling and a tree lighting, and candlelit tours will be available to guests of all ages. The fire pits will be lit and complimentary hot chocolate will be served. Admission to Illuminated Evenings is $5 per person (ages 6 and up).

Children's Tea Time with Mrs. Claus is an afternoon complete with spiced cider, decorated cookies, sandwiches made for little fingers, Christmas caroling and storytelling with Mrs. Claus. Children's Tea Time is slated for Saturdays, Dec. 2, 9 and 16 at 12 p.m. and 3 p.m.

The Trustees' Table will host Afternoon Teas, featuring cheddar pecan wafers, country ham on chive biscuits, assorted tea sandwiches and a selection of holiday pastries, on Saturdays, Dec. 2, 9 and 16, from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. for $17 per person.

Holiday Buffet Lunches, showcasing a variety of Southern favorite main and side dishes and including starters and dessert, will be served at The Trustees' Table daily Dec. 6-23 for $25 per person and $13 for ages 12 and under.

Reservations for Afternoon Teas or Holiday Buffet Lunches can be made by calling 800-734-5611. All dining guests receive 10 percent off in The Shops.

The Shops will host Open Houses and feature 10 percent off all regularly-priced merchandise, complimentary refreshments and hand-crafted demonstrations Saturdays, Dec. 2, 9 and 16. Demonstrations vary each week, but will include oval box making, chair taping and wood carving.

Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill is located in Harrodsburg, Kentucky's oldest town, which will be celebrating the holiday season with a calendar full of activities, including Harrodsburg's Christmas Parade and "Come Home to Christmas" at the Burgin Barn on Dec. 1; Harrodsburg's 26th Annual Holiday Homes Tour on Dec. 2; and the Ragged Edge Community Theatre's production of "A Christmas Carol" on Dec. 15, 16 and 17.
