Cost of Antigua-Barbuda citizenship reduced: get this Caribbean passport-for-sale with a discount

Investors interested in purchasing a second passport now have an interesting new option. The Caribbean twin-island state Antigua and Barbuda has decided to reduce the cost of its Citizenship by Investment program.

BASSETERRE, Saint Kitts & Nevis - Nov. 29, 2017 - PRLog -- This way, the authorities of the country are hoping to increase the volume of investment, and rebuild the island's infrastructure after hurricanes Irma and Maria destroyed almost all the buildings on the island of Barbuda.

Why should investor choose Antigua and Barbuda in particular?

Antigua and Barbuda has launched a program for obtaining citizenship through investment in 2013. Since then, more than 2,000 investors have received passports of this small country. Such world-famous celebrities as Oprah Winfrey, Silvio Berlusconi, Eric Clapton and Giorgio Armani have already invested into real estate of Antigua and Barbuda.

Benefits of the Antigua passport:

1) Visa-free entry or visa on arrival to more than 136 countries of the world. It gives businessmen the opportunity to move around the world freely instead of wasting time obtaining the necessary visas. The passport provides visa-free entrance to the UK, Hong Kong, Singapore, majority of European countries and other developed nations.

2) A "backup base" in case of political or economic disasters in your homeland. An investor who has received the citizenship of Antigua and Barbuda is able to move to a safe area together with their family at any time.

3) Confidentiality. The fact that you receive a second citizenship remains a secret: no information is given to the authorities of the country whose passport the investor holds.

4) Optimization of tax payments. Citizens of the island state are not subject to several major taxes: on wealth, inheritance, world income, etc.

5) Possibility to obtain US long-term visas as well as long-term visas of other countries important for conducting international business.

What is the cost of Antigua passport at the moment?

In October 2017, the government of Antigua and Barbuda decided to reduce the cost of citizenship granted for contributing to the National Development Fund by half: from $200,000 to $100,000.

In addition to this amount, investors who are to receive a passport from this Caribbean country have to make some additional payments:

1) $25,000 - application fee for a family of 4 or less. Plus $15,000 for every additional dependant family member of the investor;

2) $7,500 will be charged for the due diligence procedure regarding the main applicant. The same amount will be charged for the spouse's due diligence process. $2,000 - for every child between the ages of 12 and 17. $4,000 - for each child from 18 to 25 years old, as well as for each parent over 55 (a one-time payment);

3) $300 - for a passport fee.

The other option that is available to potential citizens of this state — investment in real estate — has not changed. As before, in order to obtain passport, one needs to invest at least $400,000 in a real estate project on the islands.

Only a specialized law firm that holds an appropriate license can file an application for citizenship. In addition, the investor must be at least 18 years old and not have a criminal record. As a rule, the whole procedure for obtaining Antigua and Barbuda citizenship takes 3-5 months. The transfer of full amount of the donation to the state fund should be completed only after the authorities approve the application for citizenship.

Antigua and Barbuda became the first country within the Caribbean Basin that made it possible to obtain a tax resident status. In Antigua it is also possible to apply for a driver's license, this document is usually required as a proof of connection to the country, for example, when you want to open an account in a foreign bank.

To sum up, investors who are yet to decide which Caribbean country to choose as their "second home base," were given a very appealing opportunity to radically reduce their expenses, as today, Antigua and Barbuda offers the lowest price on the market of second passports-for-purchase.
