Crowd Genie adds payments industry veterans Eric Smith and Tom Wills to advisory board
Forming Ontrack Advisory in 2005, Smith also serves as the firm's Managing Director; spearheading its operations which specialises in fintech, digital identity and payment solutions. A seasoned veteran of 20 years in the transaction and payment systems spaces, Eric has held senior executive roles in IT, compliance and risk management with Visa and KPMG, and senior technical/management roles at Bank of America, Wells Fargo Bank and US Sprint.
In addition to his role at Crowd Genie, Smith also advises U.S.-based next-gen risk mitigation services firm Deep Lab, where he was also one of its pioneering investors. Other advisory positions under his belt include stints with Promontory Financial Group Australasia and Singapore Management University.
Meanwhile, Wills, also a Director with Ontrack Advisory, possesses over 30 years of experience as a product developer, industry analyst, entrepreneur and security practitioner where his unique insights helped guide organisations – such as Visa, Bank of America, Wells Fargo Bank, UnionBank of the Philippines, Intuit, Verifone, Richemont and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security – to design, build and secure mission-critical platforms and ecosystems.
Apart from his advisory role with Crowd Genie, Wills is also a board advisor to Singapore-based Blockchain startup TenX, which raised close to USD80 million through its ICO earlier this year. He also has advisory and mentorship roles at other startups including Deep Labs, Kite Cash, CherryPay, HollaPay and Kashmi. In these capacities, Wills has provided specialist advice in digital identity, blockchains, cyber security, financial crime mitigation and regulatory compliance. He is also an active mentor for the Startupbootcamp fintech venture accelerator in Singapore.
Founded by in Singapore by entrepreneurs Akshay Mehra and Bikash Saha, Crowd Genie is a blockchain-based P2P marketplace lending platform which is developing an end-to-end lending solution for the Asia-Pacific. One of the few P2P lending platforms licensed by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), Crowd Genie aims to provide easier capital access for both borrowers and lenders.
Smith and Wills is now part of an advisory team which also includes banking veterans Shailesh Venkatraman and Ashish Saksena, as well as corporate consultant Chandan Joshi.
