McCarthy Given Prestigious ICE Award by ABC Houston

HOUSTON - Nov. 14, 2017 - PRLog -- The Houston division of  McCarthy Building Companies, Inc., (http://www.mccarthy.com/)  was recently awarded the prestigious ICE award at the 2017 ABC Greater Houston Excellence in Construction Awards Gala. Projects featured at this event excelled in the fields of safety, quality, ingenuity and workmanship. McCarthy's San Jacinto River Authority project team took home the highest award in the Infrastructure/Heavy Public Works and Environmental category.

McCarthy was hired as the CM-at-Risk for the San Jacinto River Authority Surface Water Facility project in 2011. The four-year project consisted of a new 60-acre Surface Water Facility with a new surface water treatment plant. The treatment plant processes included pretreatment, sedimentation, low-pressure membrane filtration, sludge tanks, gravity thickeners and belt presses. McCarthy's team self-performed 47 percent of the project including concrete packaging, yard piping, mechanical process piping, valves, chemical systems and site work.

The Associated Builders and Contractors determined merit for the awards by allowing projects submitted be evaluated on safety, execution of design, craftsmanship, attention to detail, installation and other considerations. The projects submitted were evaluated by local owners, architects and engineers. The ICE award was the highest award given from the awards in each division.
