NEW YORK - Nov. 2, 2017 - PRLog -- The Information Security Forum (ISF), a global, independent information security body considered the world's leading authority on cyber security and information risk management, held its 28th Annual World Congress Cannes, France, October 28-31, 2017. The event, which featured a series of keynote presentations, workshops and networking sessions from the world's foremost international security experts, hosted more than 1,000 attendees who discussed the key challenges and opportunities that ISF member companies and businesses will face in 2018. Topics of focus included: the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), cyber security in the boardroom, data privacy in the cloud, the human element of cyber security, securing industrial controls systems, securing the Internet of Things (IoT) and the continuing defense of mobile devices in the workplace.

"Each year, Congress provides global security professionals with the opportunity to discuss and find resolutions to today's most significant security challenges," said Steve Durbin, Managing Director of the ISF. "The GDPR, industrial control systems and the shift in the importance of addressing the human factor in any security strategy and program, were issues that attendees were keen to discuss along with the ongoing defense of mobile devices in the workplace. This places a responsibility across the organization, from the board of directors down to ensure that the appropriate levels of security are being implemented to protect mission critical information."

The annual ISF World Congress allows attendees to interact and build peer-to-peer relationships with senior, international decision-makers and share in the ISF experience. Delegates also have the opportunity to learn how ISF deliverables can be applied in practice through a sequence of sessions hosted throughout the event. As in previous years, the ISF World congress included an extensive, collaborative breakout program, led by ISF member organizations, which gave attendees a broader view of the experiences of others on the most pressing security issues they are facing.

This year's event included an all-encompassing, collaborative breakout program which was led by Master of Ceremonies, and BBC Diplomatic and Royal Correspondent, Nicholas Witchell. Keynote sessions were presented by the following:

·         Carl Bildt, Former Swedish Prime Minister

·         Ken Munro, Security Entrepreneur

·         Baroness Susan Greenfield, Professor of Neuroscience, Oxford University

·         Gry Hasselbalch, Advisor on Data Ethics & Social Implications of Technologies

·         James Freedman, Entertainer and Stealth Crime/Social Engineer

·         Aric Dromi, Digital Philosopher

"Organizations of all sizes recognize the substantial benefits the ISF brings to both our member companies, and the industry as a whole, and our latest Congress was once again a great success," continued Durbin. "We are already looking forward to next year's gathering of international security industry experts in Las Vegas."
