![]() Annual J & G Thanks-For-Giving Veterans Car Giveaway AnnouncedJ and G Transmissions is giving away an SUV to a deserving veteran November 18.
By: J and G Transmissions J and G Transmissions President, Amber Cook said, "We started doing this because we love our vets. They have given so much and expect nothing in return. Giving back to the vets is our small way of showing there is still good in the world and this is us doing our small part to show we care." Fox 13 News covered the event in 2016, sharing the message of Salt Lake City's love for veterans. Bag pipes played, donated food was served and the community came together to transform a truck for American hero Dylan Roe who was injured when an IED struck his convoy in Afghanistan. With one little girl and one on the way, Roe and his wife were brought to tears by the outpouring of the community. Roe said, "We made a right turn and my vehicle struck an IED. Me being the gunner, I took a lot of shrapnel from it, I got tossed pretty good." Roe, a Purple Heart recipient, was working two jobs to make ends meet and repairing his truck was not going to be easy to finance. "I'm blown away. I had no idea they did that truck," Roe commented. Thousands of dollars more in donations were gathered for this young family including gift cards, diapers, clothes and toys. "I don't feel like I deserve any of this, and it's just truly amazing what people pulled together and did this for me," Roe said. "It's a small price to pay for someone willing to risk their life for you. Not even knowing you," said Dwight Rouse, Owner of Dwight's Fleet and Auto.
