Producer Brian Barsuglia Partners with Clapit in Nationwide Open Call Auditions for Film "Impact Event"
Producer Brian Barsuglia will choose two actors for roles in his film "Impact Event" from the top voted, eligible video audition entries submitted through the Clapit social media app, a new talent discovery platform. The winners will be flown (all expenses paid) to Los Angeles to film on location.
Brian Barsuglia is best known for producing, directing and writing "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" (2017). The feature film starred Academy Award® winners Mickey Rooney and Margaret O'Brien and won sixteen awards. Barsuglia is also known producing, directing and writing the feature films "Zombie Farm" (2007) and "Aaron's House" (2012).
"Impact Event," Barsuglia's latest project, is another feature film starring Academy Award® winner Margaret O'Brien. After a meteoric apocalypse, a small band of survivors find themselves in a fun house that has been converted into a bomb shelter.
To support the open call for "Impact Event," Barsuglia has partnered with the social media entertainment app Clapit, where emerging actors can be discovered via an innovative, community-driven audition process from their mobile devices.
Actors can apply for a role by uploading a twenty second video audition to Clapit, showcasing their acting talent in accordance with the character breakdowns posted on the app. The most clapped audition videos, ranked by the Clapit community, will be showcased on Clapit's "Best" feed. Barsuglia will select one male winner from the top five most clapped male auditions and one female winner from the top five most clapped female auditions – a democratic crowd-sourced voting system to provide two actors with their first big breaks.
Entrants download Clapit for free from the iTunes App Store, shoot and upload their videos, hashtag their entries #brianbarsuglia, and then spread the word by asking friends to download Clapit and "clap" (vote) for them. All entries are subject to eligibility requirements and the official contest rule. The open call wraps on November 5,2017 at 11:59 P.M. EST.
"Clapit is an innovative new casting tool for film and television, and it's an honor to work with their up-and-coming actors that have so much talent," said Barsuglia. "By teaming with Clapit, we are able to expand our search for the best of the best, and with such ease."
"We are thrilled to partner with Brian Barsuglia," said Clapit CEO and co-founder Mary Jane Bulseco. It is so hard for aspiring actors to be cast in a speaking role, especially in a feature film like "Impact Event." We are thankful that Brian has partnered with us so we can provide this opportunity to cast two unknown actors straight into roles in Brian's film."
Actors Connection is a proud sponsor of Clapit's #brianbarsuglia initiative. With over 200 seminars, classes and special events each month, Actors Connection has been connecting actors with leading talent agents, casting directors and personal managers since 1991.
