Follow on Google News | Five Reasons Why the San Antonio Real Estate Market is boomingBy: Missy Stagers Although, five are among the most prominent. And, they all point to good news, which is welcomed by homeowners, buyers, and sellers, alike. San Antonio is known as the home of the Alamo and Riverwalk. But, it's also a wonderful place to live, work, and play. More and more people are moving to the area. And, because of certain drivers, the local market is gaining momentum. Here are the top five reasons why the San Antonio real estate market is looking up: • The months' supply of inventory is just about perfect. Right now, the months' supply of inventory is nearly a parity between buyers and sellers. That's an indication of a healthy market. And, it's great news for both buyers and sellers as the months' supply of inventory is the number of months it takes to sell all available listings without any new homes coming on the market. • Interest rates are slightly up but overall still near historic lows. Although mortgage interest rates have ticked up a little, home loans remain ultra-affordable. Meaning buyers can get more home for less. This also means sellers have more opportunity as the buyer pool remains large. • Consumer confidence is up across the country. Even though big chain legacy retailers aren't faring well, consumer confidence is high. Consumers are spending and that's reflected in many local economies. With stronger consumer confidence, combined with low-interest rates, and good inventory, buyers will continue to enter the market. • More jobs and employment opportunities. As with any local economy, more jobs and open positions are strong factors in driving people to relocate. San Antonio is currently experiencing job growth, with a decline in unemployment. • More robust new construction. Construction of new homes is great news for any community. And, it's happening right here in San Antonio. Combine with resales, new construction means more opportunity for buyers, as well as sellers. The San Antonio real estate market continues to show signs of growth and that helps everyone living in and around the city.
