As the trick or treat witching hour fast approaches, we thought we would gather some of our favorite Bergen County area Halloween season special events to help you get the most out of this spooky season.

Halloween Celebration and Block Party in Fort Lee

Fort Lee's Business District Alliance (BDA) is presenting another fabulous family-fun event with the return of the Fort Lee Fall-o-ween Spectacular! This mybergen.com Don't Miss Event will take place on Saturday, October 28th from 2:00 pm-4:00 pm on Main Street in Fort Lee. Bring the entire family and enjoy the festivities. Halloween costumes are highly encouraged! The BDA will provide free candy and refreshments, and for your entertainment there will be balloon sculptors, face painters and a live DJ. Throughout the afternoon, costumed characters will stroll along Main Street and will pose for photos.

"Food​ ​and​ ​Fright​ ​Festival" in Bergenfield

This is going to be a big one folks! The inaugural "Food and Fright Festival" will be held on Tuesday, October 31st through Sunday, November 5th. This amazing six-day long mybergen.com Don't Miss Event is presented by the Bergenfield District Alliance. It all starts with a Halloween Day kickoff on Tuesday, October 31 and continue with the Bergenfield Food Crawl through the 5th. Nightmare on River Road in New Milford

This creepy haunted house is well worth the trip to New Milford. Enter if you dare! This attraction may not be suitable for young children. Nightmare on River Road is open on weekends only through October 30th. Friday and Saturday hours are from 6:00 pm-10:00 pm and Sunday hours are from 2:00 pm-6:00 pm. Zoo Boo in Paramus

Zoo Boo has been one of North Jersey's most popular Halloween events over the past few years and it sells out fast!  Zoo Boo will be held on Friday, October 27 and Saturday, October 28 at the Bergen County Zoo, 216 Forest Avenue, Paramus. This event will feature trick-or-treating, ghostly storytelling, magic shows, a friendly train ride and an Eerie Express train ride. Advance Ticket Purchase Required! The Great Pumpkin Carving Event in Tenafly

The Tenafly Nature Center (TNC) in will host The Great Pumpkin Carving event on Saturday, October 21, 2017 from 2:00-4:00 pm. Carve a locally sourced, small farm pumpkin with TNC staff educators. The event will also feature a campfire and s'mores.All ages are welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult. In case of inclement weather, the program will be held under cover. Porch Light Theatre Company in Glen Rock Presents "Trapped"

The Porch Light Theatre Company in Glen Rock will present Trapped, Friday, October 27 through Sunday, October 29, 2017. Performances take place on Friday at 7:00 pm, Saturday at 1:00 pm and 7:00 pm and Sunday at 1:00 pm. Your birthday is on Halloween and every year you try to do something spookier and scarier than the last. This year, one teen tries to outdo past antics by inviting everyone to "Trapped" - an interactive escape room where participants are locked into a seemingly harmless room where they must find and follow a set of clues in order to get out. As the night continues, things get stranger, creepier and more mysterious, leaving the teens to wonder- is it all part of the game or did things just get real? Free Trunk-Or-Treat at Abma's Farm in Wyckoff

Abma's Farm in Wyckoff will hold its 3rd Annual Trunk-Or-Treat on Saturday, October 28, 2017 from 9:00 am-12:00 pm. Trunk-or-Treat is a fun and safe way for children to trick-or-treat at the farm. Kids trick-or-treat as they walk from trunk to trunk. Costumes are encouraged. The event is free and open to the public. This year, Abma's Farm is providing all candy to the registered trunks to hand out to trunk-or-treaters. The winner of 'Best Trunk' receives a $50 gift card! Hayrides out to the pumpkin patch will be available from 10:30 am-4:00 pm. Hayrides are $5 per person, children under 2 are free. Pumpkins are priced separately.
