October is Toastmasters Month in Brampton

BRAMPTON, Ontario - Oct. 19, 2017 - PRLog -- Brampton Mayor, Linda Jeffrey read the proclamation declaring October as Toastmasters Month in Brampton. There are 15 clubs in Brampton with nearly 400 active Toastmasters' members. The newest prospect is Brampton Talks Toastmasters Club.

Toastmasters Month in Brampton coincides with the 93rd Anniversary of Toastmasters International, founded in October 1924 by Ralph C. Smedley.

Brampton Talks Toastmaster Club Co-Founder and Sponsor, Dennis Bartel submitted the application to the city to recognize all Toastmasters clubs for their contribution to the local community.

"Toastmasters clubs provide a supportive and positive learning experience where members are empowered to develop communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater self-confidence and personal growth," said Bartel.

Sue Hopcroft, co-founder of the Brampton Talks Toastmaster Club also shared her Toastmaster's experience. "Before I joined Toastmasters, I was afraid to speak in public. Even presentations in front of my peer group at work, I avoided." Hopcroft said."Now, after two years of active membership in Hershaw Toastmasters, as well as leadership roles in the executive and at the district level, I am comfortable standing up – even with little or no time to prepare – to speak in front of a group. In fact, I'm considering adding public speaking to the roster of services that I provide professionally."

The public is welcome to experience the benefits of Toastmasters in any of the 15 clubs in Brampton and other parts of the world.
