Veolia awarded second Yorkshire Water contract for biofilm reactor

HIGH WYCOMBE, U.K. - Sept. 29, 2017 - PRLog -- Veolia Water Technologies UK (Veolia) has been awarded a contract to supply its AnoxKaldnes™ moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR) technology for tertiary ammonia removal at Yorkshire Water's Clayton West Wastewater Treatment Works (WwTW), as part of an upgrade carried out by Morgan Sindall Sweco Joint Venture.

Veolia has a 30-year history of pioneering MBBR technology and has established itself as the world leader in the field, providing a robust and proven solution to meet customer specifications for wastewater treatment. Following the successful installation and performance of a reactor at Cudworth WwTW four years ago, Yorkshire Water approached Veolia a second time to work on the Clayton West project. The new facility consists of a bespoke MBBR design to meet a 3 mg/l ammonia performance requirement, benefitting from Veolia's global experience in designing, building and commissioning over 700 MBBR reference sites, from small package facilities onboard ships to large industrial and municipal installations.
