Florida Foundation Protects Youth with Education

CLEARWATER, Fla. - Sept. 28, 2017 - PRLog -- With deaths from opioid abuse being the leading cause of death in Florida, the Foundation for a Drug-Free World of Florida is stepping up their anti-drug educational efforts with a weekly series of seminars. These seminars occur every Wednesday evening at 7pm at the Drug-Free World Center at 41 N. Fort Harrison Ave. in Clearwater. There is no cost to attend.

         "Humanitarian L. Ron Hubbard expressed the urgency of addressing the scourge of drugs when commented 'The drug scene is planetwide. It is swimming in blood and human misery,'" said Julieta Santagostino, the President of the Foundation. "One of the best ways to change this is through education – actually inform people of what drugs are and what they do, so the person decides for themselves that they don't need to take drugs."

         The core of the Foundation's educational program is the Truth About Drugs Program, the largest non-governmental drug education program on earth. The program includes information booklets on each drug of choice as well as a documentary about how the drugs effected the lives of former addicts.

         The weekly seminars at the Drug-Free World Center will address a different drug each week.

         "We answer questions regarding the long-term effects of 'recreational' drugs as well as the staggering addiction rate from prescription painkillers and even address the rise of synthetic drugs and what effects these have on a person's body and mind," added Santagostino. "To tell a child to 'just say no' doesn't work. What works is telling the youth what smoking a substance made out of pesticide and battery acid will do to them – how it will make them feel and what the long-term effects are."

         There is no cost to attend the seminars. Educational materials are provided to the attendees free of charge. The Foundation partners with and is supported by many organizations, including the Church of Scientology.
