AUGUSTA, Ga. - Sept. 28, 2017 - PRLog -- Global Entertainment Technology, Inc., ("GET"), a Wyoming C corporation, has announced that it has started initial research on another short-form weekend programming element that will be utilized by GET stations and available for syndication through its Miracle Wonderland Radio Company subdivision.

GET CEO, Dain Schult, stated, "This particular program has been something we've had waiting in the wings to be developed for some time.  Hip Room will be a two-hour weekend feature that will explore and display all the facets of Funk music in America.  Funk, as a music type, originated in the Sixties when, through a mixture of soul music, jazz, and rhythm and blues (R&B), musicians created a new form of music both rhythmic and danceable.  Funk music isn't so much about melody and chord progressions used in other related genres.  It features a strong rhythmic groove of a bass line played on an electric bass with drumming that is more in the foreground.  Funk typically consists of a multifaceted groove with rhythm instruments playing meshing grooves, using the same richly-colored extended chords generally found in bebop jazz.

"Many of the best-known Funk bands also feature horns with the number of players varying between two and six per group. The Tower of Power ("TOP") is a perfect example as a Funk, Soul and R&B horn based band, originating in Oakland, California  The band has been performing since 1968. TOP helped to make funk music a successful category, with a broader audience.

"In the succeeding 49 years later there have been numerous changes in the group's musicians and lead singers, the most well-known being Lenny Williams, who fronted the band between 1973 and 1974 - the period of some of their greatest commercial success.  Nine of their songs made it onto the Billboard Hot 100 including 'You're Still a Young Man', 'So Very Hard to Go', 'Soul With a Capital S', 'Soul Vaccination', 'What Is Hip', and 'Don't Change Horses (in the Middle of a Stream)'.

"Their signature song, 'What is Hip' is the inspiration for the name of this GET show.  It also happens to be the name of another Funk band – 'Hip Room' – just one of countless bands that were formed to emulate the Tower of Power's sound in the succeeding years.  Since 2018 will mark the 50th anniversary of the Tower of Power forming, we want this show up and running in time to honor the group as well.

"'The Godfather of Soul,' James Brown helped further Funk along from the Sixties on with a string of hit songs and his style of Funk was based on interlocking, contrapuntal parts - funky bass lines, drum patterns, and accented guitar riffs.  As he put it in a 1990's interview, 'I changed from the upbeat to the downbeat... simple as that, really.'

"The list of artists and groups that will be a part of the show is extensive and will provide an astonishing level of diversity including (but certainly not limited to) Charles Wright & the Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band, Sly & the Family Stone, the Meters, the Isley Brothers, Mother's Finest, the Temptations, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye,  George Clinton-Parliament Funkadelic, Rufus & Chaka Khan, Ohio Players, Con Funk Shun, Kool and the Gang, the Bar-Kays, Commodores, KC and the Sunshine Band, Man", Chic, Rick James, Cameo, Zapp, the Gap Band, the Bar-Kays, the Dazz Band, Hip Room and Doctor Funk – and there will be many more artists that fit and are included.

"Once all the necessary R&D is completed with the right personal and programming elements in place when, GET is fully operational and trading in the future, this weekend programming can be fun to listen and dance to. Or as the Tower of Power would say, 'Knock, knock, knock, knock yourself out'."
