It is unsurprising that the stunning and vibrant Southwold, Suffolk came top of the list of Britain's best seaside town, with Bamburgh, Northumberland coming in second and Woolacombe, Devon third.
Southwold is a quaint town, with an abundance of attractions;
The long stretch of Southwold beach on the Suffolk Heritage Coast has all the amenities you would need for a day by the coast with your family. The fresh air and incredible views are just the recipe for a perfect day by the sea!
The Southwold harbour regularly has boats passing through, and there is a wealth of residing wildlife, offering the perfect location to peacefully sit and watch the world go by.
The most noticeable landmark of the town is the Southwold lighthouse. Construction began in 1887, and since then, it has been guiding boats around the coast and to neighbouring harbours and ports. Many young visitors will recognise that the lighthouse has featured in the children's television programme, 'Grandpa in My Pocket'.
