BALTIMORE - Sept. 20, 2017 - PRLog -- Community cookbooks are not a rarity, but those created by Junior Leagues across the country have a way of becoming staples in every kitchen. In Baltimore, the fifth edition of community cookbook From Hunt to Harbor has hit the stands after twenty years. The first Junior League of Baltimore cookbook was published in 1985 as Hunt to Harbor: An Epicurian Tour and later retitled and republished in 1988, 1992, and 1996 as Hunt to Harbor: A Maryland Cookbook. The latest version of the cookbook boasts new recipes and a new subtitle: A Charm City Cookbook.

In all of its iterations, the cookbook has served as a fundraiser to support community projects and the organization's mission of creating trained leaders. Through their networks ranging from family members to local celebrity chefs, the women of the Junior League sourced their favorite tried and true recipes and rolled up their sleeves to get to work. This was an opportunity to not only raise funds for the local nonprofit, but also for the women to practice what they preach by developing the potential of their own members as the women navigated through the process of recipe selection, compilation, and publishing. Says President Ashley Chalmers, "The women of the Junior League, who are all volunteers with full time jobs and personal obligations, have published a professional-quality cookbook filled with delicious recipes that will surely become your new favorites. The cookbook even includes recipes from nationally renowned chefs such as Cindy Wolfe!"

From Hunt to Harbor: A Charm City Cookbook joins a rich legacy of Junior League cookbooks. The Junior League of Baton Rouge's River Road Recipes and Charleston's Charleston Receipts have sold over 1 million copies each. Lafayette's Talk About Good! is well on its way to the 1 million mark withover 800,000 copies sold. Junior League cookbooks are widely famed for being kitchen staples and have earned accolades from numerous prestigious publications, including Food & Wine Magazine.

The Junior League of Baltimore is available to showcase popular recipes from the new cookbook during in-studio cooking segments.
