Private Drug And Alcohol Rehab Program Hosts Its First Baby Shower

New Directions for Women Holds Open House Celebrating 40 Years of Transforming Lives

COSTA MESA, Calif. - Sept. 19, 2017 - PRLog -- New Directions for Women (NDFW), a private, nonprofit drug and alcohol rehab program providing addiction treatment services for all women, including pregnant women and women with children, hosted its first baby shower fundraiser "Showers of Love" on Sept. 6 on its beautiful campus near the Newport Back Bay.  The baby shower took place in conjunction with NDFW's annual community open house, when friends, neighbors, addiction treatment professionals and alumnae came on campus to celebrate the nonprofit's 40th year of transforming the lives of women, children and their families.

NDFW is one of only three rehabilitation facilities in the United States providing addiction treatment to pregnant women and women with children.  Founded in 1977, the facility was created in response to a shortage of affordable and accessible rehabilitation treatment services for women suffering from alcoholism, substance use disorder and other related problems.  NDFW offers treatment services including detox, residential, aftercare, partial day treatment, intensive outpatient and mature women programs.  The Costa Mesa-based facility has held prestigious Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) accreditation for eight consecutive years, and is proud to have the only CARF accredited sober living home in Orange County, Calif.

At the open house, guests enjoyed campus tours, a delicious barbeque, face painting, balloon art, and chair massages. To update aging materials and collect gifts for new mothers returning from the hospital, guests donated necessities for newborn babies and mothers, including generous baby shower gift cards, a high chair, a stroller, and a rocker.

"Costa Mesa has the second highest number of drug rehabilitation facilities in California so it's understandable that residents have expressed concerns after reading about fraudulent and unethical practices recently reported surrounding sober living homes in Southern California," said Rebecca Flood, CEO of NDFW.  "Indeed, there are many bad players in the rehab industry. It's important for the reputable players, such as New Directions for Women, to lead the way. Our mission is to heal addicted women, not only to give them their own lives back but so they can give their children a chance at a meaningful and healthy life. We are proud of our outstanding track record of recovery and the wonderful relationships we have with our neighbors. We invite everyone to visit our campus to see for themselves," Flood added.

NDFW provides gender separate, culturally relevant and holistic addiction treatment services that meet the special needs of women, women with children and their families that suffer from the chronic fatal disease of chemical dependency.
