New Life Church of Houston spearheads a counter attack on Hurricane Harvey

HOUSTON - Sept. 14, 2017 - PRLog -- When hurricane Harvey struck Huston, as is their nature, the New Light Christian Center Lead by Bishop Ira and First Lady Bridget Hilliard, struck back with the most powerful response humanly possible, love and compassion.

Sending out the call for to any one who was willing and able to lend a hand, they quickly galvanised a coalition love to meet the force of devastation left by Harvey.

That coalition of love will be featuring a benefit concert tomorrow in Huston at New Light Church, and the event will be aired live on the Word Network.

I spoke with New Light Church's Sr. Pastor Designate, Dr. Irishea Dilliard about the event and asked if there were any problems getting this event off the ground,  and she assured me that she was excited and blessed by the support NLC has received.

"It has not been a problem to pull people together for this, and that's one of the things I love about this city and the heart of the people here.

Every artist that we called that had his or her schedule free; readily jumped to the occasion to be here and to support."

New Light is operating five distribution centers that supplies those affected by the storm with much needed supplies, food, clothing and other necessities.  Businesses are donating to the cause to help those who have suffered loss. Beltone is donating free hearing aids, and local furniture stores are donating, one is donating a living room set and another a bedroom set to be given to a need family by way of a drawing.

Dr. Irishea said that there will be realtors and insurance agencies on hand to assist families in putting their lives back together.

She said that her dear friend Trea Tha Truth, who as done an amazing job in Houston helping with the rescues, will be helping out at one of their distribution centers.

Additionally, Trigil Wade of the Wade Foundation will be there representing her family and foundation.

Dr. Jamal Harrison Bryant and Mayor Sylvester Turner are also expected to make an appearance, as well as congresswoman Shela Jackson Lee.

Dr. Irishea said:

"It's a time for us to unify, we have saying here in Houston that we are stronger together. I think with all that is going on in our nation, it is important for this to be a demonstration of unity.

She said that their New Light church has helped during other storms over the years with the same determination to be a blessing, because it is a blessing to be able to bless others in need.

Their distribution centers will be operating from 4:00PM to 6:30PM and they will conclude with a soul lifting benefit Gospel concert.

The benefit concert will feature a host of gospel artists, including Cee Cee Winans, Tim Bowman, Charles Jinkins, Bishop William Murphy, John Gray, Preashea, Tasha Cobbs,  James fourton Hilliard and others.

The Word Netwark will air the event from 7:00PM to 9:00PM Central for those who would like to see it live and donate.  So Please tune in, and by all means dig deep and donate to this worthy cause. And call your family and friends and ask them to watch the concert.
