Discover Paris! Announces EZ Way to Register for Its Popular Black Paris Tour
By: Discover Paris!
The roughly two-hour walk explores the beautiful Luxembourg Garden located in the heart of Paris, where participants learn about the histories of African-American luminaries such as Richard Wright, Victor Séjour, and Henry O. Tanner. Compelling stories of black writers, artists, and musicians – American and French – are featured. The myth of the black Statue of Liberty and the contemporary sculpture that commemorates the abolition of slavery in the French colonies are also presented and discussed.
The general public is largely unaware of the rich contributions that persons of African descent have made to Paris' cultural fabric. "Black History in and around the Luxembourg Garden" shines a bright light on these contributions in an idyllic setting in central Paris.
