State Bar of Nevada Names Snell & Wilmer Attorney Karl Riley 2017 Young Lawyer of the Year

LAS VEGAS - June 15, 2017 - PRLog -- Snell & Wilmer is pleased to announce that Karl Riley, an attorney in the firm's Las Vegas office, has been named Young Lawyer of the Year by the State Bar of Nevada. Riley will receive the award at the state bar's annual meeting in Austin, Texas on June 29.

The Young Lawyer of the Year award recognizes the professional and public service achievements of Nevada attorneys who are either under the age of 36 or who have been engaged in the practice of law for fewer than five years.

"I am deeply honored to receive this award from the State Bar of Nevada," said Riley. "I have enjoyed serving the bar since I became an attorney in 2010, and I look forward to contributing to the legal industry and local community for years to come."

In addition to the Young Lawyer of the Year award, Riley was recently named a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation and received the National Bar Association's 40 Under 40 Awards in 2015, the Rising Star of Business Award by the Las Vegas Business Press in 2014 and the Lawyers of Color Hot List 100 for the Western Region in 2013. He also was named to the Mountain States Super Lawyers, Rising Stars Edition and the Legal Elite-Best Up and Coming Attorneys by Nevada Business Magazine.

Active in several bar organizations, Riley currently serves as President of the Las Vegas Chapter of the National Bar Association and is a member of the Executive Council of the Young Lawyers Section of the State of Nevada. He is a Past Chair of the Young Lawyers Division for the National Bar Association and chairs the National Advisory Board of the National Black Law Student Association. Riley is a board member of the Urban Chamber of Commerce and a previous board member of the Las Vegas Alumni Chapter of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity.

Riley also defends the firm's clients in discrimination and harassment claims under Title VII, ADA, FMLA, state law, as well as in wage and hour disputes. He has also been an active member of the firm's Attorney Development and Diversity & Inclusion Committees. He earned his J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law and his B.S. from Washington University.
