Attorney Israel Klein Wins Criminal Case: Sexual Assault Charges Dismissed

NEW YORK - May 2, 2017 - PRLog -- Attorney Israel Klein, of the law firm Imbesi Law P.C., successfully represented an individual in Queens County criminal court. The defendant was charged with three sexual assault related offenses: (1) PL 130.60-2, sexual abuse in the second degree; (2) PL 130.55, sexual abuse in the third degree; and (3) PL 260.10-1, endangering the welfare of a child.

The defendant was not a United States citizen and faced possible deportation if convicted.

The State initially offered Mr. Klein's client a plea offer where the defendant would plead guilty to PL 130,60-2, sexual abuse in the second degree, in exchange for a dismissal of the remaining charges. Mr. Klein was able to negotiate a plea deal dismissing all charges in exchange for a guilty plea to a violation.

Confident that he could get the case dismissed in its entirety, Mr. Klein recommended that his client not plead guilty to the violation. Arguing that his client's speedy trial rights had been violated pursuant to CPL 30.30, all three sexual assault charges were ultimately dismissed. An order of protection filed against the defendant was also vacated.
