Olson signs for 2017 Super Endurance Championship

American race driver Pete Olson of BlackArtsRacing Team [BAR] has just signed for the 2017 Super Endurance Championship [formerly known as CEC/Championship Endurance Challenge].

With races held throughout China in Guangdong, Shanghai, Beijing and other circuits, the Championship consists of a series of 3, 4, and 6 hour endurance races, in which Teams earn podium points in the various events in order to earn entry to the grueling 12 hour season finale race, with its large cash prize team rewards. The championship-winning team will be determined by the results of the 12 hour season finale n December 31^st, held at Guangdong International Circuit.

"These will be some of the toughest events we've ever done" said Olson. "But in BAR, we've already proven that we are a force to be reckoned with in the Caterham R500, which will be the car I will be co-piloting with Bill O'Brien as well as other drivers during the season. We took an outright class win in 2015 (3^rd overall) in the 500kms Circuit Hero event, and despite being bumped up to the highest class in 2016 in the 600kms event, we still took 2^nd overall. While those were one-off events, of course we are looking to dominate the newly-formed Super Endurance Championship. We have a very good shot at it with the technical support and drivers that BAR will bring to the series."

"It's been a long road to get to this point, but I'm extremely excited about taking on a new challenge in endurance racing, its seems to be a good fit for me, especially on the physical side. I'd like to give a huge round of thanks to BELL Helmets Europe, Sideways Driving Club, ChildFund International, and all the family support that I've had during the climb up the pyramid from my Mom, Dad and Deborah Callard. Without the support and encouragement of all of you, I would not have made it this far.  Best yet is with BAR, we are breaking new ground as a team as well, with our rapidly growing list of Championship wins."
