2016 Email & SMS marketing report in China

Webpower has released the report for email and SMS marketing performance in China during 2016.

SHANGHAI - April 11, 2017 - PRLog -- Every year, the Marketing company shares their performances which act as benchmark for industries and the usage of email and Sms in mainland China. Based on results from more than 11 billion mailings, the report provided email benchmark for industries such as retail, e-commerce, hospitality, education covering up to 14 different industries.

In 2016, retail, e-commerce and IT are the industries with the highest email sending volume. On average, email open and CTO (click-to-open) rate are 6.5% and 15.5% respectively across different industries. Meanwhile, we were witnessing a surge in email sending volume with industries such as manufacturing, airlines and cross-border e-commerce.

Going deeper to email performance rate by industry, financial service, online gaming and traditional industries gained the highest open rate, ranging from 9% to 11%. Online gaming, education and airlines have increased the most click rate going from 1% to 3%.

As for SMS marketing, financial service, airlines and retail are the industries with the highest sending volume. While the exhibition industry was aggressively catching up. Compared to 2015, there were even more companies combing email and SMS together for their marketing strategy – with an increase of 210% in channel integration.

Trends in 1-to-1 communication in China.
