In addition to exclusive targeted content, members enjoy the unique ability to connect professionally and anonymously as they navigate next career steps.The site evolved from Passaro and Shimonishi's first-hand experience in the current professional landscape.  Realizing the vast number of colleagues who were forced to transition their careers numerous times over the past decade, they found that as companies downsized or outsourced labor, more and more senior employees were finding themselves under-employed or even without a job. "Most reports focus on the 95 million Americans not participating in the workforce," said Shimonishi, "But ignore the growing trend in senior level under-employment and involuntary job changes".  "Based on our findings, we found that over 46% of workers believe they are under-employed," added Passaro,  "No generation has been more affected than Gen X, who has been squeezed between Boomers and Millennials."

NPN is conducting its first annual career survey in an effort to get real data on US professionals' state of employment and their attitudes towards the future.  The real picture of American employment and under-employment today is not clear.
