SAN FRANCISCO - Feb. 13, 2017 - PRLog -- True Love Knows No Gender! That's the message from author Kristina Meister's newest novel/app, CINDERELLA BOY.

The book debuted today on the Tapas app, a game-inspired, immersive comics and fiction app that can be downloaded free at the Apple or Android App stores. Tapas specializes in bite-sized content that can be consumed in a brief moment in a mobile environment…morsels for today's millennial generation to consume on their cell phones while standing in line at Starbucks, waiting for the bus, even hanging out at the laundromat.

Meister is most widely known as the editor of bestselling monster-turned-author Simon Alkenmayer. Alkenmayer's THE CREATURE'S COOKBOOK topped the charts at Tapas for more than nine months. And his SIMON'S SNACKS, and CC2: MONSTER'S MISE EN PLACE have also rocketed to Tapas bestseller status. Meister hopes the same audience will flock to CINDERELLA BOY.

CINDERELLA BOY takes place in contemporary small town America. A mash-up of She's All That and The Breakfast Club, with the stylistic tones of Rainbow Rowell and Nick Hornby, Cinderella Boy tells the tale of Declan, a transvestite teenager hiding behind a mop of hair and his video games.

One night when his sister Delia catches him trying on her clothes, she glams him up and insists he accompany her to a party at the home of her mega-popular ex-boyfriend. Carter is the handsome class president, the front-runner for homecoming king, and a shoe in for valedictorian, but he is also disillusioned and bored. When he encounters Declan's female alter ego, Layla, he is immediately attracted to her confidence, intelligence, and beauty. But when things get too intense and Declan faces confessing the truth to Carter, the boy he's been crushing on for years, he makes Layla disappear.

While Carter searches desperately for the "girl" he's fallen in love with, Declan befriends him and his buddies over paintball, video games and the new LGBTQ club that is being denied a charter by the principal. Things heat up until Prom arrives and everything changes forever at their high school. Set in the landscape of a conservative high school, this is a modern fairy tale about overcoming discrimination to live happily ever after. The serious message is one of hope, a message all transgender and gender-fluid teens need to hear.

"If Oscar Wilde and the Shakespeare who wrote As You Like It decided to collaborate on a young adult novel, the result might be much like Kris Meister's Cinderella Boy," said award-winning children's book author Douglas Rees. "Charming, touching, funny and sexy, graced by characters with depth, sensitivity and wit, this novel is a delight from the first page. But Cinderella Boy is more than another clever riff on the Cinderella motif. It is a true novel, presenting a segment of society--older teens--at a moment of deep and radical change--now."

To find CINDERELLA BOY, go to the Apple App store or Android App Store and download the Tapas app. Open the app, click on the in-app books, and start reading. The book costs 15 cents per episode after a generous free sample.
