Newport Beach Personal Injury Attorney Logs First Trial Win

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. - Feb. 6, 2017 - PRLog -- Barely a year after joining Bisnar Chase's team right out of law school, Tom Antunovich has won his first jury trial. The case (#30-2015-00819686-CU-PA-CJC) involved a woman who was injured in a crash on the northbound 57 Freeway near Imperial Highway in the city of Fullerton on April 15, 2014. The jury found the defendant negligent and offered the plaintiff compensation for past medical expenses, past lost earnings and pain and suffering.

Antunovich said this was a challenging case because the woman suffered injuries in a separate head-on collision barely a month after the initial accident.

"She had a one-year gap in treatment after the accident when she did not receive any medical care," he said. "She also reported to her healthcare provider that most of her pain was being caused by the second accident."

Antunovich said the defendant was not offering anything before the trial claiming he was not negligent and that the plaintiff was the one who "turned into him."

"A week before the trial, the defendant was still refusing to accept responsibility and the offer from the insurance company was $0," he said. "But, in the end, the jury heard all sides and made the determination that the defendant was responsible for the plaintiff's harm."

An Orange County native, Antunovich graduated from Troy High School and got his bachelor's degree from Cal Poly Pomona. He attended the Western State College of Law and graduated with honors in May 2015, and in July 2015, passed the California Bar examination.
