Although the overall improvement of the economy has many business owners more confident because their revenue is forecasted to increase, owners are also more optimistic because they expect President Trump to carry through on campaign promises to lower taxes and roll back regulations that affect their business, including parts of the health care law.

Business owners seem to have a realistic approach to the new president and are not necessarily expecting overnight change. Many recognize it will take time to see what the Trump administration's plans are and what it will accomplish. In a survey taken shortly after the election, forty-six percent of 600 business owners questioned in the Wells Fargo (WFC) survey said the operating environment for their companies would improve next year. This is in direct comparison to 30 percent two years ago in a similar survey, after the former congressional elections.

Many owners agree that the health care law will be one major factor in the marketplace.  While the replacement plan of the Republicans has yet to be unveiled, Congressional leaders have said they want to pass a plan that lowers costs for consumers which would allow them to spend money on other things besides healthcare. In addition, Congressional leaders have also said they want to develop a plan which will make it easier for business owners to provide health insurance for their employees.
