The Equine Rescue and Adoption Foundation was founded in 2000 and has grown from a small shelter on leased land to an 17-acre property with a large barn and a community center on Martin Highway just west of the Florida Turnpike. At any one time, approximately 24 horses are enjoying a new lease on life, medical care, healthy food and lots of love and grooming from the staff and volunteers. Horses are surrendered from owners who can no longer properly care for them and often from slaughter-bound trucks. Every horse is evaluated carefully to determine their medical needs and re-educated to become an adoptable horse, ready for a new permanent home. More than 182 horses have been rescued and over 160 adoptions have been made throughout the Treasure Coast, Palm Beach and Okeechobee counties and south Florida. If you would like to become a sponsor, donate to the event or register, please phone 772-220-0150, by email at eraf2000@gmail.com or visit their website at www.eraf.org. End
