Brian Danzinger - City of Green Bay Proclamation for SEED Program

GREEN BAY, Wis. - Jan. 29, 2017 - PRLog -- PROCLAMATION RECOGNIZING

SOUTHWEST HIGH SCHOOL SEED PROGRAM

WHEREAS,      The Southwest High School SEED Program (Student Education for Economic Development) was formed in fall, 2011 as a partnership of the Southwest HS Business Coop, Junior Achievement of Brown County, and District 11 of Green Bay; and

WHEREAS,      the mission of the SEED Program is to improve the community through a combination of social awareness, teamwork, respect, initiative, volunteering and excellence; and

WHEREAS,      with an initial "seed" donation,the students were tasked with making a positive impact to the community and formed a student driven organizational body with Marketing, Communications, Event Coordination, Project Management, and Executive Departments; and

WHEREAS,      the group selected The Golden House as the recipient of any funds/donations raised and planned a series of events for the 2011/2012 school year that would engage students, local businesses, and area residents on the West Side of Green Bay; and

WHEREAS,      the SEED Program grew their initial investment to host 9 events including The West Side Family Movie Night Series, the "Golden Minute" Student Fund Drive, Global Youth Service Day, and a Family Picnic at the Golden House facility; and

WHEREAS,      these events as well as other volunteer activities raised monetary funds, essential household goods, and canned food contributions for The Golden House and earned the SEED Program an educational grant for their efforts;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, James J. Schmitt, Mayor of the City of Green Bay, along with the citizens of Green Bay do hereby recognize the efforts of Teacher Caryn Plinske and the students of the Southwest High School SEED Program for their contribution to impact The Golden House, Green Bay neighborhoods, and area charities.
