Tiphub Partners with NewWave Technologies to Host Virtual Reality Healthcare Code-a-thon

WASHINGTON - Dec. 16, 2016 - PRLog -- Tiphub, an investment manager and innovation foundry for startups in Africa and the African Diaspora today announced it is partnering with NewWave Telecom & Technologies, one of the leading implementers of service-oriented, business solutions in the healthcare, finance telecommunications, government and private sectors to host a healthcare focused virtual & augmented reality Code-a-thon on Feb 4 & 5, 2017 at 9 am at NewWave's headquarters at 6518 Meadowridge Rd #100, Elkridge, MD 21075.

Aimed at bringing together students, developers, healthcare professionals, entrepreneurs and non-technical innovation enthusiasts alike, the healthcare hackathon series was created to foster collaboration and solve real world problems.

The innovation marathon will kick off with a preliminary meetup and mixer for Code-a-thon attendees and interested parties at 7 pm on Sunday, January 29, 2017 at the Microsoft Store in Pentagon City located at 1100 S Hayes St G04A, Arlington, VA 22202. Event goers will have the opportunity to meet fellow enjoy a series of virtual reality product previews and testings over complimentary food and drinks followed by a fireside chat with Chris "Broadway" Romero, Founder of celebrity social network Thisis50.com and B Way Creative, the full service virtual studio responsible for directing and animating the hologram performances of legendary deceased musicians.

Participants will reconvene the following weekend at the NewWave offices where participants are encouraged to come together to learn, build and share their creations designed to address health related problems. Attendees will leverage Unity, Github and the Microsoft Hololens to explore how AR/VR can create real solutions that can be practically applied across the healthcare sector. Local and long-distance participants will each be able to compete for a grand prize of $5,000. The projects will be judged on their use of the solutions, design, user experience and viability in the real world.
