Track Hate Crimes with a New Web-based App by JustPeace Labs

HateTracker App Responds to Urgent Need for Reliable Data About Hate Crimes

SAN FRANCISCO - Dec. 15, 2016 - PRLog -- JustPeace Labs (www.justpeacelabs.org) has released HateTracker (www.hatetracker.org), a new progressive web app that collects and tracks reports of hate incidents in the United States. Using the latest in mobile technology, the app responds to the pressing need for better data on hate crimes.

Hate crimes are on the rise throughout the US. But there isn't enough reliable data about hate incidents for government agencies and police to track them and adequately respond. HateTracker can help.

HateTracker is a secure web-based app that allows people to report hate incidents they experience or witness.

** Web-based. HateTracker is a progressive web app that works on any phone, any platform.
** Secure. Data is private, encrypted and secure.
** Evidence-gathering. Users can upload photos or videos as evidence of hate incidents.

HateTracker enables law enforcement, social justice organizations and the media to identify when, where and how hate incidents are being committed. With hate crimes data readily available, we will:

** Analyze, verify, collate and present hate crimes data using the latest data visualization techniques.
** Advocate to local police, policy leaders, government and communities to take action against hate crimes.
** Assist victims by providing location-based recommendations of psychosocial and community services.
** Promote accountability by giving users the option to directly report the incident to local police.

"With the powerful data collected by HateTracker, we can take positive action to combat hate crimes in our communities and create a safer, more inclusive society," said Jennifer Easterday, CEO and Co-Founder of JustPeace Labs.

HateTracker is a project of JustPeace Labs, a social enterprise using technology to promote peace and sustainable development across the globe. For this project, we are partnering with the UC Berkeley Human Rights Center, a leader in international and domestic human rights research and protection.
