- Angela Ciminello, recently promoted to Vice President of Development and Marketing at Wartburg, received one of 914Inc. magazine's annual Women in Business Awards for 2016, honoring "Westchester's most powerful executives, entrepreneurs, and government and nonprofit leaders." She is featured in the current issue along with 17 other winners from the Westchester County region.

Over 200 nominees were submitted to this year's award committee. A select group of women were nominated by colleagues and supervisors who have "demonstrated a consistent level of success" in their fields and "made a lasting impact" on the economy and their communities, according to the criteria.

"This prestigious recognition is exciting and humbling," said Ms. Ciminello. "I am proud to be among this elite group of dynamic and accomplished women business leaders."

After joining Wartburg in 2014, Ciminello expanded its presence in the community and experienced record-breaking success. She set out to raise $670,000 in her first annual campaign, and managed to bring in $1.47 million. In total, she has recruited 416 new individual donors who have given $271,243 in new revenue to support Wartburg's senior programs and services.

Ms. Ciminello cultivated the largest grant ever given to Wartburg from a private foundation, which fostered an expansion of the award-winning Creative Aging & Lifelong Learning program, an innovative art-based therapy initiative for Wartburg's residents, Adult Day Services registrants and rehabilitation patients.

In her few months in her position, she raised $35,000 to produce a documentary film about the program, which aired on the PBS Visionaries series across the country and won a Telly Award for Excellence in Documentary in 2016.

In her new role, Ms. Ciminello now oversees the Volunteer Department, the Council for Creative Aging & Lifelong Learning program and the Asset Management division, which sponsors special events throughout the campus. She has also pioneered an annual stewardship calendar, revised the direct mailing campaign and conducted extensive outreach to foundations, corporations and major donors. Attesting to her ability to achieve meaningful results, corporate support has increased 71 percent from the time she joined Wartburg and foundation grants are up 439 percent.

Tasked with creating a permanent museum on the Wartburg campus to commemorate its 150th anniversary in 2016, Ms. Ciminello also launched CreativeAgingStories.com, an interactive website that highlights Wartburg's long legacy of caring for the community.

Prior to joining Wartburg, she achieved at a high level for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and Burke Rehabilitation Hospital, both located in White Plains, N.Y., including raising $10,000 for blood cancer research through LLS's Team in Training program where she hiked 14 miles in the Grand Canyon.

In her spare time, she is also a philanthropist who serves on the Board of Directors of the Smiling Faces Children's Foundation, which provides plastic surgery for children with facial deformities, as well as serves as a member of the Mount Vernon Parks Conservancy Board of Directors.

Ms. Ciminello is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, the Association of Healthcare Professionals, Women in Development and the Association of Development Officers. She earned a master's degree in journalism and a bachelor's degree in advertising at Iona College and is in the process of becoming a Certified Fundraising Executive.
