Introducing the European Medical Journal 1.4

CHELMSFORD, U.K. - Dec. 13, 2016 - PRLog -- Greetings and welcome to the final journal for this year, the flagship European Medical Journal, a compendium of multidisciplinary modernisation and evolution drawn from across numerous therapeutic areas; the ideal publication to draw this eventful year to a close and entice your anticipation for 2017.

This issue includes a feature article authored by van der Berg et al. on the consequence of sedentary behaviour as a factor for disease risk, particularly focussing on Type 2 diabetes mellitus incidence. The authors discuss the barriers facing researchers investigating this potentially causative link and although unanimously agreed to be significant risk factor, it is noted how, at present, no recommendations are implemented within clinical practice regarding sedentary behaviour and prevention regimens given to high risk patients. Concerns such as these and the potential impact on future public health are emphasised.

In support of the feature article, Martín-Timón et al. touch upon the importance of cardiovascular management in Type 2 diabetes mellitus patients and in one of a plethora of high-quality, high-impact articles provided, Daneault et al. consider the management of Parkinson's disease-associated drug-induced dyskinesia, including its relationship to patient daily regimens, and how this could substantially benefit both the patient and their caregiver. Yong Pei Ling and Sanjay review the ocular manifestations of whiplash injury and highlight how important minor symptoms can prove to be in recovery. An important matter rarely brought to light, Masjedi et al. evaluate occupational work-related allergic disorders, conditions in need of early diagnosis to prevent long-term consequences, while Steveling-Klein discusses allergen-specific immunotherapy; its advantages, disadvantages, and why it remains an important and successful treatment for allergic disease. Bazarbachi et al. and Toh and Alhamdi overview non-transfusion-dependent thalassaemia and why a better understanding of molecular mechanisms and pathogenesis is required for targeted therapy, and the correction of coagulopathies within the operating room, respectively. Finally, Fishbein et al. and Thakkar and Dave present a review on the characteristics of coronary stents and their future directions, and the promise of stent-released gene delivery, respectively.
