BEDFORD, Pa. - Dec. 12, 2016 - PRLog -- Colonial Courtyard at Bedford welcomed two very special guests to the senior living community's annual Family Christmas Celebration.

Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus visited the community at 220 Donahue Manor Road for St. Nicholas Day, which is a tradition observed on Dec. 6 of the 16th year of each century.  A gathering of 175 residents and their family members participated in the event.

"It started with an enthusiastic, 'Ho, ho, ho,' heard by all the residents and their families," said Nanette Bankes, Activities Coordinator at Colonial Courtyard at Bedford. "Santa made his way into the room, and all you saw were wide grins and big eyes. Everyone still is a kid at heart when they see Santa and Mrs. Claus."

The residents received candy canes and had a chance to speak to the special guests. A holiday style dinner followed and entertainment was provided by musician Zupe of Altoona.

"This was a great way to kick off the holiday season," Bankes said. "Activities such as this one are so important to our seniors. It's special to see their day brightened so much by such special visitors to our community."
