KENT, Ohio - Dec. 8, 2016 - PRLog -- About:

Otto started the HandsOnSports Foundation in 2009 with a charity golf outing and by collecting used soccer equipment in NE Ohio to share with the needy in his own communities and abroad. Since this time Project retread has delivered equipment and supplies to more than a dozen countries in the Caribbean, Central and South America and in Africa.

Otto Orf is a retired professional soccer player of 21 years who played the last 17 years with the Cleveland Crunch/Force.  He was the goalkeeper for seven years with the United States Men's National Futsal Team. For the past 24 years, Otto has run his own small business, HandsOnSoccer, providing soccer instruction and programming for boys and girls of all ages and abilities.

This year he will bring over $80,000 worth of supplies which have been shipped by sea to the Port of Limon. With his family and network of volunteers HandsOnSports has distributed over 10,000 pair of shoes and other soccer equipment,  food processors, classroom fans, medical and dental supplies and other funding through 'Project Retread'. It has been Otto's goal to assist and connect NE Ohio youth with the underprivileged youth abroad through the games of soccer and futsal that have made such a great impact on his own life.

Medical campaign at Talamanca: Dental care and hygiene needs are also addressed as civilization and processed foods encroach on the jungles indigenous populations of Bri-bri, Amubri & Cabecar citizens. Vaccinations and other medical issues are dealt with in the best possible manner as the portable clinics provide much needed services to children & parents.

The fund raised will be used to help send the first ever cargo container by sea to the Port of Limon, Costa Rica. They will load the pallets in Cleveland, ship by truck to Miami and then on to Costa Rica by sea. The materials will be stored until the team arrives, rent a truck and transports them to the jungle in Talamanca for distribution.

Otto says "The medical supplies will be used to set up mobile clinics in multiple locations throughout the jungle. In addition to serving the communities with vaccinations, dental check-ups and procedures, each clinic location will hold a gathering where the people of the community will receive the sports equipment, shoes, clothing and other supplies and games will follow. The staff will be housed at the Finca Educativo 'Educational Farm' in the village of Suretka and we will meet with the elders of the Bri-Bri, Amubri and the Cabecar tribes to plan for future 'campos' and the needs of the communities throughout the reserve."

With few days left in this campaign, your support is urgently needed! Please consider getting involved, at whatever level you can, and help "Costa Rica Talamanca Project 2016" get funded!
