DENVER - Dec. 7, 2016 - PRLog -- Plenty of food will be part of the Ziegenfelder Company's annual Christmas breakfast, but most of it won't be served during the Dec. 9 event at the VFW Post 501, located at 4747 West Colfax Ave. in the Mile High City.

Seventy-five employees of Ziegenfelder's Denver plant will participate in a charity function with Harvest Pack, an organization dedicated to feeding hungry and overlooked children through nutrient-packed, cost-efficient food.

The Ziegenfelder team will pack approximately 25,000 rice-based meals that eventually will be distributed to hungry children throughout the world. The event begins at 9 a.m.

"We wanted to do something special to help those less fortunate," said Lisa Allen, President and CEO of Ziegenfelder Company, which is known for its popular Budget Saver Twin Pops and other frozen treats. "Our team is community oriented and we always want to lend a hand, especially at this time of the year. Our holiday breakfast provides us an opportunity to have our team participate in such an important and rewarding endeavor."

Ziegenfelder's two other plants in Wheeling, West Virginia, and Chino, California, also are involved in similar events. The Ziegenfelder team in Wheeling recently packed an estimated 25,000 meals in conjunction with the charity weServeEats. The Chino team will pack shoeboxes with school supplies, toys and other items to assist Operation Christmas Child.

"Whether we realize it or not, we've got it good here," said Breanna Humphries, founder of weServeEats and a process specialist at Ziegenfelder's Wheeling plant who has traveled to West Africa as part of the project. "It's great to help locally, but when you can feed five children with just $1, it's hard to pass up that opportunity to help. The kids I've met in Liberia are so close to my heart, and I am so grateful to work for a company that shares my love of service to others."

For 155 years, the Ziegenfelder name has been synonymous with wholesome frozen treats such as its Budget Saver Twin Pops. The company is the largest producer of frozen twin pops in the United States.
