Mildren Construction helps to raise £12k for WaterAid with 'The Big Swing' Golf Day

POOLE, U.K. - Dec. 2, 2016 - PRLog -- On Thursday 29^th September 64 Golfers took part in a charity golf day in aid of WaterAid, organised by Mildren Construction together with Wessex Water. 'The Big Swing 2016' teed-off at 10am when the clouds, that had been looming, began to clear and sunshine prevailed.

Throughout the event golfers were given many opportunities to contribute to the fundraising and they rose to the challenge. Aside from the many rounds of golf was a 'longest drive' competition, three course evening meal, prize giving and charity raffle, raising a hefty £12,000 by the end of the day!

"We're over the moon with the success of this event, having supported WaterAid as our chosen charity for several years", said Mildren's Managing Director, Chris Wingham. "Spending time in Mali and Burkina Faso, West Africa, in 2010 and 2013, has shown me the life changing improvements that WaterAid brings to some of the world's poorest people". Quantity Surveyor, David Stokes, agrees having travelled to Madagascar in September this year "On my visit I was accompanied by several other WaterAid supporters. We were all overwhelmed by the work that had been undertaken by the charity and recognise how vital it is for us to give our continued support to this worthy cause".

The prestigious Bowood Golf Course, set in the picturesque Wiltshire countryside, were host to the event, while Selwoods provided the main sponsorship. Several other businesses also took advantage of an array of sponsorship opportunities and generous donations were received from those who were unable to attend.
