WASHINGTON - Nov. 30, 2016 - PRLog -- In conclusion of the Leadership Greater Washington's Leadership Exchange Program event held this week, LEAP CEO, Dr. Clayton Lawrence, was honored to attend a special private tour of the National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC).

The museum, which was established in 2003 by Act of Congress, was officially opened to the public on September 24, 2016. The only national museum dedicated exclusively to the preservation and documentation of African American life, culture, and history, exhibits more than 36,000 relics and artifacts and has over 100,000 charter members.

Touring alongside other business and political leaders from across the nation, Dr. Lawrence reflected on the significance of what this museum means to the nation and to him as a successful minority business owner.

"The official opening of this museum to the public marked yet another proud moment for all U.S. citizens in the history of our nation," Lawrence stated. "We are a nation that works to celebrate its rich, melting pot culture, a culture that makes us uniquely strong, resilient, and ever-focused on making this country a beacon of light and progress for our citizens and for rest of the world."

He continued, "This museum not only signifies the strength and achievements of one group of Americans, but demonstrates how great America is when it collectively comes together to overcome challenges of the past to create a better future for all."

Lawrence concluded, "I am so proud to be an African American who has been afforded unlimited opportunities to achieve success in life because of so many of those who are represented in the history preserved by the NMAAHC, and I am even more proud to be an American in the nation that, time and again, shows its greatest strength in difficult moments and its unlimited potential in its unwavering resolve to be better today than it was yesterday."
