Bob Weber Inc. Pivots to Meet Growing Need for Lower-Cost CTP in North American Market

Printers need an affordable alternative that they can still count on to survive in the current market.

CLEVELAND - Nov. 30, 2016 - PRLog -- With demand for turn-key CTP solutions rising, prepress industry leader Bob Weber Inc. has begun importing and distributing the latest line of low-cost CTP technology in an effort to provide the North American market with a high-quality, affordable alternative to the big four manufacturers.

"Not every print shop can afford an expensive package from Agfa, Fuji, Kodak, Screen or even Cron. To survive, they need a lower-cost alternative that they can still count on, and that is what our CTP and consumable products are about," says BWI sales manager Bill Weber

"BWI has always prided itself in providing affordable prepress solutions for large and small printers alike. For the last 30 plus years, that has meant being a trustworthy source for reconditioned equipment and service, but now the industry is going in a different direction. Companies want to streamline their purchases rather than buying from several different sources. But we don't think that should mean they have to mortgage their future."

Weber acknowledged that this is a major shift for BWI, but that the industry landscape required it for the company to continue serving its customers' interests.

Following FCC approvals, BWI has become one of the first distributors to introduce this product into the North American market. With over 800 units sold worldwide since 2010, the private-labeled B•W•I 400, 800 Series and 800 Plus™ (http://www.bob-weber.com/equipment/New-CTP) CTPs feature quality parts from Japan and the USA, simple electronics for low maintenance, moving parts that are pneumatics, and heavy-duty construction all at an affordable price. Each series comes in three models with speeds of 16, 22, and 28 plates per hour. The included Tiff Catcher software is compatible with the Xitron Navigator Tiff RIP and Sierra Workflow.

"It marries the best technology from the PlateRites and Trendsetters to create a thermal CTP that is highly efficient, quiet, and cost-effective especially when paired with B•W•I plates and chemistries (http://www.bob-weber.com/equipment/Digital-Plates)," says BWI senior technician Steve Fondriest.

Gerrardo Torres, a factory-trained service technician in Puerto Rico, praised "the simple, easy to service features, and low maintenance aspect of this Series."

Bob Weber Inc., is extending an open invitation to printers who wish to visit their remodeled demo/training facility for a demonstration of the B•W•I 800 Series™ T8-32.
