"According to the coroner's list, more than 117 homeless individuals have died this year, and nearly 50 of those deaths were due to drug overdose. We're hoping this year's vigil will help bring awareness and prevention to the plight of drug use," said Randle El. A large number of homeless individuals are expected to attend this year's vigil. Straight From The Streets will distribute gently used coats and survival kits directly after the service. Straight From The Streets, a non profit 501(c)3 corporation, is an outreach program for the homeless community. The candlelight ceremony to memorialize homeless individuals who passed away during the year was started by Straight From The Streets founder and executive director Linda Lera Randle El, and has been a Las Vegas tradition since 1996. Linda, who was a passionate advocate for homeless rights and a member of the Homeless Coalition of Southern Nevada, passed away in 2014. https://www.facebook.com/ End
