New Orleans Green Party issues voting advice for December runoff election

NEW ORLEANS - Nov. 29, 2016 - PRLog -- U.S. SENATOR

The NOLA Greens note signifcant reservations about both candidates in the run-off. Both candidates do not support women's constitutional rights to privacy, including full access to reproductive health services such as abortion. Both candidates do support the United States' current pattern of military spending, a pattern in which the United States' military budget is roughly equal to the rest of the world's military spending combined. Both candidates belong to parties that have a long history of supporting corporate business interests at the expense of citizens' interests.

Given those reservations, Foster Campbell has taken positions that, if implemented, will improve the quality of life of individuals as well as society as a whole. Mr. Campbell supports a number of changes that would lead to greater economic justice, including increasing the minimum wage, equal pay for women, and college loan forgiveness. Most importantly, Mr. Campbell recognizes the overwhelming scientifc consensus that climate change represents a catastrophic threat to society as a whole and Louisiana in particular.

JUDGE CRIMINAL DISTRICT COURT, SECTION D

Despite his party affliation, Paul Bonin has developed a reputation for experience and competence.

The NOLA Greens advise vote Paul Bonin for Judge Criminal District Court, Section D.

PW DRAINAGE – 4.46 MILLS – CC – 30 YRS.

The NOLA Greens recognize the Sewerage & Water Board's (S&WB's) serious functional shortcomings as described in Inspector General Ed Quatrevaux's report. These shortcomings include the S&WB's failing to collect $7 million in fees, poor oversight, and inadequate ethical training.

Despite these shortcomings, the NOLA Greens recognize the need for adequately funded public utilities, especially the S&WB. The NOLA Greens call on the city to use the renewal of this tax to move the S&WB to adopt best practices for utilities.

PW PROP. (FIRE PROTECTION) – 2.5 MILLS – CC – 12 YRS.

The NOLA Greens expect all employers (especially the government) to meet their obligations to their employees, and the NOLA Greens particularly support a unionized workforce.
