About the Author

Derek "Smokin" Jones is a native Chicagoan, born on the southside. He fell in love with House Music in 1980 and was influenced, educated and inspired by such House Music legends as Farley "Jackmaster" Funk and Ron Hardy.

With more than 30 years as a Touring DJ, Producer and Record Label Owner, Jones is currently hard at work on a new album: Chicago Producers volume 2. He's also finalizing plans for a House Music Alliance festival and organizing the third annual House Head Retreat.
