Here's a roundup of some of them: Christmas Markets Winter in Oxfordshire is a wonderful time, crisp, clear air, maybe a touch of snow on the ground, a great time to visit one of the great Christmas markets across the county. If you are looking out for Christmas presents that are a little out of the ordinary, with that touch of 'specialness' and caring; if you look forward to the smells of cinnamon and hot wine or the smell of fresh cut Christmas trees then Oxfordshire's markets are waiting for you. Here's a short list of the best of the county's Christmas markets waiting to welcome you this year. Broad Street's Christmas Market In the centre of historic Oxford, you'll find a wonderful living Christmas Wonderland. The fairy-tale atmosphere is found only at a good Christmas Market such as the one held since 2009. This year the Christmas Market runs from 8th-18th of December with opening hours as follows: THURSDAY-SATURDAY: SUNDAY-WEDNESDAY: SUNDAY, 18th DEC: 10am – 6pm Enter the Christmas Spirit Along the wide, ancient street you'll find little huts with their owners selling their Christmas themed wares; there's handicraft specialists with items not available in local shops, festive food and drink provided by local caterers and as if that were not enough hearts will be warmed by a variety of Christmas themed performances by bands, choirs and groups such as the Kidlington Concert Brass Band (always a favourite) on Sunday 18th December from 11-2pm, Nostos, the Oxford Greek choir singing carols from various regions of Greece on the 17th December at 4pm and other musical events running from the 9th December. The littlest market visitors can fight the cold weather on a vintage merry go round near the Christmas Tree but they will for sure be entranced by the handmade Christmas Stars on display and for sale on the Christmas Stars stall. Kids and parents will adore the Christmas decorations sold at Georg's Winterzauber stall with their range of glass baubles and hand painted Christmas decorations. For those special Christmas gifts, there's almost 60 stalls to visit, check out and find that 'special something' for all your special people. As well as the glass baubles and decorations you will find wonderful local cheeses to share around the Christmas dinner table, handmade glass jewellery that'll be a great treat for mum, or your oldest daughter. Highly recommend is the display of photographs from wildlife photographer Drew Burnett, where you are guaranteed to find some new image of natural wildlife to place on your lounge wall.
