MONROE, La. - Nov. 23, 2016 - PRLog -- According to a recent report by Insure.com, Louisiana is the fourth-most expensive state to insure a car. Besides hefty monthly payments, consumers also complained about terrible service. While finding the right auto insurance company can be tough, the law office of J. Antonio Tramontana hopes to change that.

"I work with the victims of auto accidents every day, and I see the devastating impact that terrible insurance companies can have on Louisiana residents," stated Tramontana.

To help consumers avoid insurance nightmares following an accident or other auto mishap, Tramontana's law firm recently released the 10 worst auto insurance companies in 'The Bayou State.'

To compile the 'Top 10 Worst Insurance Companies' list, the firm used data from SmartShop, Property Casualty 360 and Insure.com which ranked the companies based on surveys of 4,000 customers nationwide. The firm then overlaid those scores with the aggregate customer review scores on Consumer Affairs.

Despite receiving a failing grade, Direct General Insurance Company ranked the only 10th worst compared to its competition. While it received four times as many complaints than average, the auto insurer received a high score of 85.9 by Insure.com.  Coming in last place, with the dubious title of 'Worst Auto Insurance Company in Louisiana,' was 21st Century Insurance with a score of 78.1.

Paying more but getting less appeared to be the biggest gripe among many Louisiana drivers. Currently, the average premium is $1,842 – over $500 more expensive than the national average of $1,325. Higher premiums don't always amount to better service, according to the Tramontana's firm.

"By low-balling victims after an accident, not paying out claims in a timely manner, or being unresponsive to questions, these auto insurance companies make difficult situations even harder," stressed Tramontana.

By publically releasing these rankings, Tramontana hopes it will force auto insurers to maintain fair and reasonable rates while providing a higher level of customer service to Louisiana drivers.
