LIVERPOOL, U.K. - Nov. 23, 2016 - PRLog -- Available Now - A New Book Exploring Ringo Starr's Iconic Work With The Beatles.

Amongst the mountain of books about the Beatles, none focus on the work of the man who put the beat into the Beatles - until now. With the release of Ringo Starr And The Beatles Beat, Liverpool drummers Alex Cain and Terry McCusker explore the percussive elements of the Beatles songbook, providing intuitive descriptions and detailed notation of the drumming and percussion in every original Beatles release. Discover how Ringo's sympathetic and instinctive drumming interacted with the personalities of his bandmates and recording engineers to shape the Beatles incredible musical output.

A Beatle fanatic's dream, there's something for the drummer and non-drummer alike, with comprehensive song by song analysis, from the tentative, nervous recording of Love Me Do at Abbey Road in 1962, to the final recording of I Me Mine by George, Paul and Ringo at Apple Studios in 1970.

Terry's recollections of witnessing the four lads in the famous Cavern Club provide a focus on how the 'beat' of Merseybeat altered the musical and cultural landscape forever, while Alex's experiences as a sound engineer shed light upon the studio experimentation that enhanced the Beatles sound. The shortcomings of Pete Best, and the reasons he was forced to relinquish the Beatle drum stool and Ringo's ascendancy are also discussed from a drummer's perspective.

Foreword by Don Powell of Slade.

About The Authors

Alex Cain

Like John Lennon a quarter of a century before him, Alex was born at Oxford Road Maternity Hospital, Liverpool, as the Beatles' latest single Eleanor Rigby/Yellow Submarine sat atop the charts. A drummer for many years, he has enjoyed a career in TV sound, most notably working on Channel 4's Brookside and Hollyoaks, plus numerous productions for BBC, ITV and Independents. He is particularly proud of his contribution to the BBC documentary of another of his heroes, Dennis Wilson -The Real Beach Boy.

Terry McCusker
After leaving school, Terry was lucky enough to be working in the same building that housed the famous Cavern club in Liverpool. Here he was able to observe the birth of Merseybeat, and of course to see – close up – the most famous of all of those bands. Within three years of seeing the Beatles at the Cavern, Terry was himself playing the sweat-clubs of Germany and elsewhere. Working as a freelancer he has played all over Europe, America and the Middle East with many varied bands and artists on stage, screen or radio. Still in demand, he can be seen doing anything from powering along a ten-piece, or merely standing up playing his cocktail kit with a trio in his local pub.
