A Diamond in the Rough...Or in the Lab

Lab-Grown Diamonds vs Natural Diamonds , thing that you need to know

TORONTO - Nov. 22, 2016 - PRLog -- Times are changing and diamonds are keeping up. Lab-grown diamonds, also known as synthetic diamonds, have entered the marketplace alongside their mined predecessors.

So, what's important to know about these lab-created diamonds?

First, a lab grown diamond is not a diamond stimulant. It is a real diamond. It is created by the same process that mother nature takes millions of years, but in this case, technology has enormously accelerated.

A gem lab will find no difference when it comes to chemical makeup between a nature-made and labgrown diamond. Chemical makeup of Diamond stimulants such as moissanite, quartz and glass are vastly different from diamonds. Diamond certification obtained by a gem lab will not classify a diamond as lab-grown or mined.

Secondly, lab grown diamond are cheaper. Though the prices may vary depending on the shape, cut, clarity and color, a lab grown diamond is generally priced 20 to 30 percent less than a mined diamond. Thus, it is an economical way to own a real diamond.

Lastly, a lab-grown diamonds has a limitation. You cannot have them big as you want. The technological limitations restrict the size of diamonds that can be produced in a lab. Leading labgrown diamond producer Gemesis sells colorless diamonds in sizes ranging from 0.5 to 1.50 carats. However, the colored diamonds come in much larger sizes.
